What's social media? | Blog Post #27
Ever wanted to take a warm cup of tea and sit outside to read? Feeling that cool crisp wind lightly caress your neck? Maybe even feel yourself warming up from the drinking the tea? Its a wonderful experience, one that just you, the wind, the tea, and the newspaper. For my older audience, the newspaper is a familiar form of media. It has articles with every opinion fact and local events as well as national ones on it. That media still exists today but in a different form: Social Media.
Social media is where users can generate, distribute, and swap information, ideas, and multimedia content within virtual communities. These platforms allow for communication and interaction, enabling individuals to establish connections with friends, family, and individuals globally. Key features of social media include the ability to share text, images, videos, and other content, as well as engage with others through comments, likes, and shares. Prominent social media platforms such as Facebook, X, Instagram, and TikTok are examples of popular virtual platforms.
